The native Reminders app on Macs is popular and quite useful, but its one major drawback is that it's not that easy to access. Remind Me for Mac is a simple utility that makes it easy to add new. Reminders is a single-window app by default, with a sidebar that shows all the lists associated with your account. When you open the Mac reminder app, you will see a list of your scheduled reminders and menus on the right sidebar. You can choose to hide the sidebar and focus on a particular list at a time. Remind yourself to get back to a web page, an email, a map location, or something else in another app while you’re using it — without switching to Reminders. For example, you can create a reminder for the web page you’re viewing in Safari, a selected note in Notes, a location or directions in Maps, or the card you’re viewing in Contacts.

Note: All Reminders features described in this guide are available when using upgraded iCloud reminders. Some features aren’t available when using accounts from other providers.

Add a reminder from another app

When you add a reminder from another app, an app icon or link is added to your reminder so that you can get back to the item you created the reminder from, such as a Safari web page, Mail message or Maps location.

  1. While you’re using another app on your Mac, select something that can be shared, click the Share button , then choose Reminders.

    If the app doesn’t have a Share button, Control-click what you want to remember, then choose Share > Reminders. For example, you can do the following:

    • Add a reminder for a Mail message: In the Mail app, select a message, Control-click the subject of the message, then choose Share > Reminders.

    • Add a reminder for a Calendar event: In the Calendar app, double-click an event, Control-click the title of the event, then choose Share > Reminders.

    FaceTime lets you create a reminder when you decline a call. See Answer calls in FaceTime.

    In some apps, the Share menu doesn’t include Reminders, so you can’t use it to create a reminder for the selected item or location.

  2. Click the Info button , then add or change details.

    Here’s what you can add or change while adding a reminder from another app:

    • Reminder list: Click the Choose List pop-up menu, then choose a reminder list.

    • Notes: Enter notes below the reminder title.

    • Title: Select the reminder title, then enter a new one.

    • Be reminded at a date and time: Select the On a Day tickbox, click the date, then use the calendar to pick a date or type the date in the month, day and year fields. Optionally, select the At a Time tickbox, then type a time in the hour and minute fields.

      If you want to be reminded on a repeating schedule, place the pointer over the current repeat option, click the pop-up menu, then choose an option. To set an end date for the repeating schedule, place the pointer over the current end repeat option, click the pop-up menu, choose On Date, then use the calendar to pick a date or type the date in the month, day and year fields.

    • Change the priority: Place the pointer over the current priority, click the pop-up menu, then choose an option. Exclamation marks appear in the reminder list to indicate priority: one for low, two for medium and three for high.

    • Add a URL: Click the URL field and type a web address.

    • Add images: Click Add Image, choose Photos, select one or more images, then drag the images to the reminder.

  3. Click Add.

Reminders you create from another app have an app icon or a link to help you get back to the item you created the reminder from.

In the Reminders app on your Mac, do one of the following:

  • Use an app icon: If there’s an app icon to the right of the reminder title, click the icon.

  • Use a link: If there’s a link below the reminder title, double-click the link.
